I love reading this shit by people who don't know shit except second hand information or what they garner from internet forums and printed ones about sexual hijinks in the military. i served 21 years before retiring and can tell you the facts...
1) the rates of rape, sexual harassment, murder, assault.. and etc. are actually lower among military personnel then the general population, even way lower then those found on college campuses.
2)The UMCJ has definite parts concerning such, including the fact Adultry is a punishable crime.
3) It is against the rules and regulations for such in ones own chain, between the various ranks, and etc.
4) You do not have time for it... on base or deployed. Military life is carefully regimented.. menaing your fucking schedule is always filled, it is not an 8 hour job. There's cleaning, PT, training, classes on a variety of things, so on and etc.
5) it does get boring in arepetitive sort of way.. but not where it makes for a lot of extra time. At the end of a day you are tired enough to sleep peacefully... though you can wake up and be alert in an instance. Even clerical jobs require a lot of work and doing stuff to meet the physical tests and etc given yearly. Een combat zones are roughly 90% boredom and 10% adrenaline fueld chorography... even if to civilians it may look like chaos incarnate... if it is that, then people have been too lax.
6) Most of what people believe is due to movies, Tv shows, the biased against the military news media, and bullshit spread by servicemen and women themselve sto make their jobs look more exciting because of the attention they get.
Examples. Watch Heartbreak Ridge... even with Clint eastwood basically retraining his men hasrhly, they had a lot of fucking downtime. Doesn't happen. When on base and on duty, you are kept busy except when sleeping... outside of your job, the things you have to stay up on can be pretty rough.. like PT, time on the firing range, keeping things ready for inspections. Now, there is time for joking around and such, part of the whole bonding process and keeping each other on their toes..go find skippy's list oinline and you'll see.
It is not a matter of mixed horny sexes being thrown together.. most military people wait for when on pass or off duty and off base... and know what can happen if they break the rules. A common theme in the sexual forums... one to three women for one reason or another end up in a barracks and provide an entire nights entertainment to the troops.. keep dreaming. First of all, I have rarely heard military personnel call quarters barracks... next. When in such quarters the enlisted men may share a large room for sleeping quarters, or may be doled out in groups throughout rooms.. but no matter what there is always a "fire watch' on duty... taken from the old times when soldiers were tasked with keeping a fire going all night and such. Now noncoms get their own quarters, but some may be house din private rooms in the same building a sthe enlisted, especially corporals or might not.. but whether they are or not.. one is always tasked with checking the quarters throughout a night to make sure the watch is being maintained and etc... whether the enlisted men ever realise it or not... and officers will also do this as well. It's making sure people are doing what they should be... and if their was a gang bang going on, heads would roll.
21 years in, mostly at the same base stateside.. how many of these occurances happened.. zilch. How many were rumoured to happen..zilch. How many times did I hear the stories being told... numerous times to naive morons. How many times did we bust unauthorised personnel in quarters, and remember only those assigned and their officers and noncoms are authorised along with IG's... several.. and always within moments of them being so. How many army sluts were rumoured? Every single female in because women are nasty towards each other in ways men are not and men who get shot down also like spreading ugly rumours about women... as seen in high school where often one girl can be rumoured as a slut but is a virgin in all ways. How many verified ones.. none. But that's because i don't consider sexually active females sluts... we did have many females that were sexually active outside of their military life, meaning they'd go out just like the guys on a pass and try and get as much dick as they could... and an odd fact. Most female military members do not huant the same places male ones do when on pass or off base.
So don't believe what you hear.. it's basically a matter of trust.. and another statistic to keep in mind..most military divorces are not because of what the one in unirform did, but what the one at home did. I'm not saying it doesn't happen the other way around, but in cases of cheating, it is usually the civilian spouse who did it.
Oh a note about the whole adultry thing..when the war on terror started, since w ewere being deployed as part of it... to help spouses while we were gone volunteers were asked among reservists and guards men and women to help the families left behind... and they were point blank told any and all rumours of impropriety would be investigated and if found true they would face the harshest penalties they can get. So ignore the idiots trying to play to your fears... and realise it's about trust between her and you and nothing else.

obviously, you weren't a combat journalist, if you were really in the military at all. i visited my brother and sister many times when they were stationed at camp pendleton. they called their 'military apartments' barracks all the time, just like the single males and females in the Army did. plus, since I able to get my paperwork through before the freeze in '03, I never was deployed to an active combat zone. The most intense duty station was the DMZ in Korea, and the tension there most days was about as bad as an elementary playground.
My brother did two tours in Iraq, and my sister did one in Kuwait, being female. Although my brother saw some action, he said most of his time was like mine, sitting around with nothing to do.
My guess is, that one, you were never in the military; two, you were in the nasty guard; or three, you were active duty, but every outside of the military, you've never had sex, and are such a loser that no one ever invited you to go to the bars on leave...ever talked to you when you guys had leave.
Everybody who actually has been in the military knows that there countless tales of people being raped, and/or endure all kinds of sexual harassment. Seriously? I don't know what branch you served in, what your MOS was, or what time period you were in, but this could not be more inaccurate to the Army I have spent the last 16 years and counting in. Where to begin?
2) The UCMJ, or Uniform Code of Military Justice, does indeed have coverage for adultery. However, it practically takes an act of God to get someone punished for it. Now you damn near have to have video footage of them mid-stroke to prosecute, and even then it's not a sure thing.
3) Rules about those in ones chain and of various ranks. To a degree, yes. But these days it's really only about Officers with Enlisted unless its an E6 or above with a PVT in his direct supervisory care. And that doesn't even begin to talk about all the other E4 & below in the barracks she will be around every day. On more than one occasion at Ft Bragg I walked into a barracks room to find a female on a bed in the middle of the room with anywhere from 4 to 7 guys running a train on her. Which brings me to the next one.
4) Don't have time for it? You think we keep busy for so long that all we do when we get off is sleep? Wow. We now do pt from 0630 to 0730, then work from 0900 to 1700 with 60 to 90 minutes for lunch. And that's almost always Monday to Friday only. Training and classes, when they do happen, happen during those work hours while nothing else gets done. A little cleaning happens after duty hours, but that's mainly on Sunday nights for barracks folk, and even that's barely an hour if that. From 5pm to 6am plus all weekends I've got nothing but time to mess around, and trust me, I'm far from "too tired".
5) Combat zones are entirely different than when you were in as well. To start with, as a female, unless she joins up in these new female combat arms MOS's, she'll almost certainly be in some sort of support MOS, which means she'll be staying on the FOB with all the other maintenance guys etc. (This also applies to Garrison as well. Support means working with support guys, who are off at 5pm most every day.) For the fobbits, every day is staving off boredom any way you can. You're not patrolling, kicking in doors or catching bullets. You're sitting. Waiting for something to fix. The boredom makes your mind turn to sex, no matter what your gender. We had three pregnancies downrange this last deployment just in my small unit. One is married as well, but she took care of it while on R&R, so the chain of command no longer had any proof of adultery.
6) Again with this no downtime thing. Kept busy except when sleeping? Apparently you've never been to a Walmart in a military town recently during the day. They're full of guys in uniform shopping because they have nothing else to do at that moment. Same at malls. In fact, everywhere in a military community you'll find more Soldiers than you will actually AT work.
You've rarely heard quarters called barracks? Married people live in housing, single people live in barracks. That's all there is. On most bases they do NOT share a large room anymore. Most bases have large rooms for two Soldiers, although many now have single Soldier rooms.. most with their own bathroom (rare to use the word latrine now as well) and kitchenette. The days of men living in bays and 8 man rooms are dead and gone except for in Basic training and a few AIT's. Same goes with Fire Watch. That's a dead practice except for Basic training. At permanent duty stations there are CQ desks, but that's simply to keep fights and rapes at a minimum. When on CQ, you do perform checks, but only the security of the common doors to ensure they're locked. A gang bang could and often does- happen in rooms with the CQ remaining blissfully unaware of it. Of course some times they do find out, and pop in to get some quick head. Its a reality of today's Army. I've actually seen a female Soldier finish in one room with two guys, leave, go knock at the next room and play in there, and repeat in a third room before deciding she had enough. Welcome to maintenance. Most military females don't "haunt" the same places off post that males do? You really haven't been in a military community recently have you? It's all soldiers- male and female- going to the same five clubs and bars. And another thing. Why the hell do you talk so much about pass? Passes are much less common. Folks go to off post bars on weeknights now, and the weekends? Well.. let's just say we party our asses off out here.
One more thing, in all three of my combat deployments we had guard/reservists brought in to support families. Mainly guard MPs. I gotta tell you, there were so many of them fucking wives it was actually disturbing. They set up things for the wife to put in the window to signify they were available or not. Its kind of wild, but it's part of the military lifestyle. So yeah, to say that people are talking about what they don't know? Hmm..

I was a Drill Sergeant and a Platoon Sergeant, served in the Army for 17+ years. I will tell you that around 50% of the females who joined were trying to get out of a relationship and thought the military was the "easy" way to get out. The others were either looking for college money, or legitimately wanted to serve.
Your girlfriend, no matter what the reason, will be doing something that will improve her self-esteem, confidence, and independence. She will have very little in common with the girl you knew after her Basic and AIT training is done. The hard fact is this- she will have had a multitude of new experiences that you can not begin to relate with. The biggest problem for people dating new recruits is that nothing changes for them, but the person who joined is now completely different, and sees them as not doing anything with their lives - honestly more women than men feel this way.
Drill Sergeants are trained to build up recruits confidence and self reliance and I saw a large percentage of females dump their boyfriends after Basic Training. Some who kept their boyfriends then dumped them after AIT. Most gave the reason that they were going to be stationed at "X" Base, and lower enlisted are required to live on post in barracks. That would mean she could only see you when she has leave, around 30 days per year. So unless you are planning to move to live near her, and then see her when she is not on duty (12-16 hour days are not uncommon), deployed, or in "the box" training for 15-30 days in the field, depending on her MOS you will hardly ever see her.

The OP is likely talking shit (attention seeking -which he has got), however, even if the mythical girlfriend doesn't screw around with men, she will with other girls. No, I've not been in the army/services but some of my partners/girlfriends have been and have had a lot of fun in single-sex accommodation. Before women soldiers were integrated into regimental units there was the Womens Royal Army Corps which attracted a lot of lesbians who tok it upon them to ensure recruits were properly 'experienced'. The British Navy (WRENS) and RAF seems to had fewer lesbians but girls/women who like the whole uniform and discipline thing have other preferences which go along side them.
