That's not what the registry is for... think long term.

Once we become used to the sex offender registry... other registry become more palatable. Soon, you will see a registry for violent offenders. Then, people arrested for home invasion. Soon after that, drunk driving and drug possession. All the way down to speeding and parking tickets.

What's the point of all this?

If our government can get us to not trust each other, the chances of us working together to make change, or force change, diminish. Our power as citizens becomes impotent. When we suspect our neighbors, we trust the government more to protect us from them.
