Australia recently had their "Malaysia solution" to refugees overturned by the High Court. It is now illegal for Australia to send their refugees to non-signatory nations of the refugee conventions act, or who don't offer basic rights to refugees.
I don't understand what the fuss is all about. The number of refugees who make it to Australia are tiny, and out of proportion with the media attention they garner, and the millions needed for exotic "solutions" to their arrival. Australia signed that fucking convention of its own volition, so we should man up and deal with the fucking problem of housing, sorting and processing these people without trying to worm out of it by getting other countries to deal with them.
Otherwise, we should just renege on the convention and go back to being racist, insular, xenophobic rednecks.
Fucking hell, I'm ashamed to be an Australian sometimes.
