I agree with the progress through science, but only up to a point. What good will science do for you once you're dead? In addition, what of our predecessors and ancestors who didn't have the science we have? Too fucking bad for them?
Spirituality is not just for the dead, it can be very real if you open up to it (like asking directly "God, you exist at all?", and see what happens (note that you don't know in what shape or form the answer will come, so you have to open up REAL wide, otherwise you're about as full of shit as a hypocrite is; also keep in mind that the answer will not be tailored to your own preferences, however it should strike a good chord anyway))

But indeed, religion is a perversion of Faith. Religion is of people who reject individuality in Faith.
Christianity shrinks an enormous God to the puny size of a human (because that's how limited their intelligence is), ask any Muslim (in Islam, you keep repeating how huge God is, much like a mantra, so that you not loose perspective, you push yourself to grow bigger by keeping looking at the Bigger, otherwise you'll never graduate to what you can become). Christianity takes a straightforward message from God which is to be accessible by all and turn it into so complicated a mess that people get confused and lost and contradict their own selves and act like schizos.
Like Ahmed Deedat said, Christianity is not the religion of Jesus, but rather that of Paul! I agree: if you compare what Jesus said and what Paul and John said of him, you will find obvious differences. Then you can pick your choice and bet on the good horse. Jesus spoke his message and did not appoint Paul or John to translate it to the rest of us, he just asked Paul to simply fucking stop persecuting his followers, whom he simply asked to spread his word.

Religion is now a tainted word. Hope this helps. I address to you my obligatory greeting of Peace.

"What good will science do for you once you're dead?" Nothing, but what good does religion or spirituality do when you're dead? In fact what good does any "X" variable do when you're dead? Whether there is an after life or not is a metaphysical question and as far as we know, nothing in this life has anything to do with an afterlife. There's also no evidence that there is an afterlife, so why believe there is?

It doesn't make a difference whether you believe there is a an afterlife or not through spiritual, religious, philosophical, or scientific means. If there isn't an afterlife, then your beliefs had no effect on the lack of an afterlife.

However where science has made tremendous improvement is on the average-life span of human beings. Science has caused us to be able to live much much longer. Keep in mind this is the one and only life that we know for sure is real. So science does deserve lots of credit.
