Some folks prefer "refresh" instead of "bump".

Either way, it's a good idea to post something to plainly indicate your intention. A couple of random character or even a blank post might take the thread back to the top of the page, but it's bad manners and might be interpreted as a mistake by a moderator and get deleted.
