Are you sure. Do the people who claim to be christians really believe or do they say it so they are not chastised? Is it any wonder the # of "believers" keeps dwindling every year.

There are, to be sure, vast numbers of closet nonbelievers who continue to disingenuously go through the motions of religious worship so as not to be shunned and ostracized by their families and communities. If the number of Americans who publicly disavow religion stands at 15 to 20% as all recent surveys indicate, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if still-closeted nonbelievers comprise a further 15% on top of that.
