You need to use a video editor to convert them and make them smaller in size (500MB per file is the max size allowed). Converting them to MP4 will make them significantly smaller than their current format but if they still go over the 500MB limit you will need to split the files into separate parts to upload them here.

We converted to Avi and it took a 1.6G video down to 311M Which is Awesome, but the Quality went to shit!

Any idea which Format would work best?

If you read his post again you will see he suggested mp4. That's what they get converted to on here if uploaded in a different format so it's the best one to use and it should keep the quality after conversion.
