Because the incumbent p******** is running for a second term.....
Nothing new in this, it happens when there's a Republican in the White House too. No one runs against the incumbent.
As for the NFL, yes it happened in 20058, the NFL rescheduled games to accommodate John McCain's nominating speech; and he was just a candidate, not an incumbent p********.
