Still having doubts about this one, but maybe it is possible. Seen lots of stories on the news of people leaving young er kids than this home alone for days at a time. Also, the part about Sandy the storm and missing their flight is just random enough and plausible enough that is could be true. I do hope u finish the story though OP, and we'll see what kind of sense we can make out of all of this!
