There is no such thing as modest Islam. If you are a Muslim and if you read the Koran, then there are only two options:
1. Fully comply with what's written in the book. Because it's considered to be DIRECTLY from God. You MUST fully comply or you are no real Muslim.
2. Not fully comply with the Koran. Then you are in fact not a real Muslim. And according to the book you are then a traitor and you have to be put to death, because you don't follow what God wants from you.
The conclusion is: EVERY Muslim is an extremist. There is no such thing as modest Islam. Islam in itself is an extremist ideology. It's all there written in this book.
In other words: EVERY Muslim is guilty for the atrocities commited by their so-called extremist fellas. The mere fact that they are Muslims means that they always indirectly support this crap, giving those who actually use violence the background they need. Without the so-called 'modest' Muslims there wouldn't be any 'extremists' in the first place.
Basically, there are only Muslims and non-Muslims. Many Muslims who considere themselves Muslims, aren't Muslims. Because they do not fully comply with the Koran. If they would fully comply, they would have to commit crimes in the name of Allah all the time.
Every Muslim who fully complies with the Koran is what's being called an extremist. But extremist is only another word for 'Muslim who fully complies with what the Koran says'.
