People are stupid, teenagers especially are fucking stupid, there's no way that a 13 year old is capable of deciding weather or not she wants to have sex. That's why we have laws, an age for drinking, and age for driving, etc... the idea is that someone under the age of 16 cannot handle the responsibility and maturity required to own and drive a vehicle. At least for the most part, same goes for sex.

It is too arbitrary. So at 15 years, 364 days, 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds, one does not have the maturity to drive a car, but one second after, one magically attains said maturity? Certainly not. I think all the ages should be the same: voting, serving in the military, owning property, driving, drinking, all should be the same age.
I would, however, remove the statutory rape laws and instead charge people with normal rape/sexual assault if the person was not willing.
btw the age of consent in Canada is 14. Same with Italy. Both are G7 countries, highly civilized, with a standard of living comparable to the USA.

And in most states you can get a drivers permit at 14 if you are in a drivers ed class.
Why not do the same thing? Issue a sexual activity permit at 14 if you are in a sex ed class. You will be allowed to use the permit while in the company of a responsible adult, just like a drivers permit.

yet you can kill and die for your country at the age of 18, yet you cant legally drink or gamble at a casino? or how about the laws and hypocrisies of the World Governments? Did they warn you about how they allow Fluoride to poison you in both tap water and toothpaste? its a toxic waste that comes from phosphate mining. or how about how weed has been proven in multiple scientific studies to do a cure for cancer when ingested in high amounts? shut up and actually inform yourself of the world around you.
