THERE IS ONE MAJOR THING THAT EUROPEANS DON'T UNDERSTAND ABOUT AMERICA. And to a lesser degree asians don't get it either.
Many European countries are the same size as American STATES! In other words, by American standards they are tiny. I have driven in the American west for an entire afternoon on a road that never made a turn! That seldom, if ever, happens in Europe (or probably Asia).
Combine that with the fact that America has super-highways (called freeways) that traverse the whole country. Not at all like the roads you find in many Euro countries.
The United States is a 240 year old country. That means that the majority of the cities are less then 200 years old. These cities and the country as a whole were build with the use of the train, & then the automobile in mind. This differs from Europe where cars travel through cities where the streets were designed for horses!
The point here is to educate Europeans that just because they live a certain way it does NOT mean that it automatically transfers to America. The U.S. is an enormous country! The poster above is correct when he says a Cadillac CTS-V & others American cars will easily compete with the handling of Euro or Japanese cars. But the point is that in the U.S. they are not traveling on roads designed for horses, in tiny countries that you can traverse in an afternoon. The Lincolns, Cadillacs, Chryslers, Buicks, Fords, Dodges and etc. of the past have been built for American needs on American roads, period. And they have done it well. I hope this helps to educate European and Asian people.
Lastly, I have resisted the idiotic name calling that certain immature non-Americans have indulged in on this thread. The post about the majority of Americans wanting a fast, comfortable, stylish cars instead of an econo-box is totally correct. Europeans need different things from there cars then Americans do. Just deal with it!
