I say get ourselves tested. There's no harm in being sure and its never too late to know. As far as using smaller condoms, how much smaller are we talking? There should be at local drug stores, but if its small enough, finger cots are small, relatively inexpensive and come in a variety of sizes. Can be found around the band aids in most stores bc food workers use them when they cut their hands and they are also typically latex
