the first part of you post i entirely agree with... the second part not so much... lol
I have heard people claim the word nigger is not racial and just means "ignorant person"... but personally i just think that is a more recent tack on to the word and used at a cop out more than anything... as i said above.. nigger is derived from the words negro and also the word negre' meaning "black" in Spanish and french, it is was originally used to refer to black slaves...
No where in that do i see a point at which it would refer to any race but blacks... now i have also heard other words tacked onto it... yellow nigger, sand nigger, etc... but they are again all post slavery, post civil war, and used in a more modern world as a sad "copy and past" attempt to create an insult for other races that is on an equivalent level to the what "nigger" is for black people...
So no.. i dont feel the term nigger can apply to any race, and i feel in your second example you are using it incorrectly much at you describe the use of african american as incorrect in the first portion of your post...
just my thoughts on the matter tho :P
