hey lauren. you need to switch the section you've put your post in to another board category that's not "motherless".
the motherless section of the board is supposed to be used to ask about site problems/concerns/issues/site features etc.
things not fitting that criteria usually get deleted by a mod. if you want a further idea what the section of the board is use for you can give that branch of the boards a look.
