@Cock4calfsuck Hi they typically last 3 weeks to a month if you bought them fresh. Unfortunately I have not been able to breed or keep them alive longer than that. Once they are too weak I will release them back.

if anyone knows where you can get them would sure love to know - I hear some bait shops import them from Asia or China sometimes - but I could find any selling them now. I read the are just kept in their container at room temperature and stay alive about a month...

Pretty sure now the ones I got are actually ragworms even though it says lugworms, and I think maybe the one you have is a king ragworm as they can get several feet long

@wormfreak7 Sorry to hear that you got bitten. So far (touch wood) I have not been bitten. Perhaps you can try letting it calm down first. Usually after I have clean them and place it on a cloth they are pretty defensive and would bare their fangs. But after leaving them for awhile, they seem to just looking for a place to hide. I followed your advice and put a "bead" down - I used a piece of fishing line, and actually instead I used one of those soft foam earplugs, put a hole through it with a need - used a sounding rod to push it down to block the worm from going too far - pretty easy to do - and was easy to take out - but didn't really need it cause of course I got bit and then I was too scared to proceed.

@Cock4calfsuck Yes you can do that but 2 things to consider. I did that once but because this worm has spiky legs and when you pull it out it’s trying to stay in and it scratches yr urethra wall which will give you discomfort. The other thing is it can decide to break itself.
